Enter Metal Bat. Even if this isn’t the first time he’s been spotted (he was first seen complaining to Tatsumaki during the Boros invasion), this is the first time he’s enjoyed any sort of extended screentime. Metal Bat is just his hero name though – hilariously enough, his full name is “Bad”, hahaha. I’m not making that up either! He’s hot blooded but dedicated – when he sets his mind to a task, he sees it to completion. As a combatant, he’s known as a slow starter that becomes like a freight train once he gets started.

Oh, and he is at the beck and call of his sister.

The hero association has caught word that Garou isn’t just after the heroes – he’s after the associates and executives as well, as his latest actions have made clear. They make the recommendation that executives travel in the presence of an S class hero should they need to go anywhere outside.

Saitama also enters the “super fight tournament” in place of Charanko, wearing a ridiculous wig he bought from a street vendor. Sourface (hilariously named, one of Bang’s former disciples) warns Charanko of what lies ahead. While Saitama is there to witness what it means to be a martial artist in hopes of it giving him an understanding of Garou, we know what awaits him is an endless sea of effortless knockouts.

Garou has marked Watchdog-man as his next target. I love Watchdog-man – in a world filled with ridiculous characters, he is even more insane than anything yet witnessed. Even Garou is confused as he muses “Is he just a guy in a suit?” Wouldn’t we all love the answer to that one?

This also marks the first appearance of an officially recognized Dragon level threat, Elder Centipede (or Centichoro depending on the subs you’re watching). Dragon level threats are supposed to take several S class level heroes to take out, so it goes without saying that Metal Bat would be locked into a battle of attrition before long. Before he has a chance to continue his slugfest, Garou notices him and realizes he can attack Metal Bat before he gets away. At this point, you’ll no doubt notice that Garou is only getting the attention of the lower ranked S class heroes, but just how strong is he? My estimations peg him around S class rank 14 strength, but as Tank Top Master mentioned last week – it’s less about his raw power and more about his talent as a martial artist.

Next week we’ll get Metal Bat vs Garou – a fight which I thoroughly enjoyed (and partially covered here on the website 3 years ago!)
